Perhaps unusually for a food director, James began working in feature documentaries, self-shooting on several high profile series before side-stepping into the world of short stories. In 2017 he was shortlisted for a Shots Young Director Award in Cannes, for his film 'Why This Road?'

But in addition to his beautifully shot documentary work, James has been developing a strong commercial food reel. He manages to compliment these different disciplines with his usual lack of fuss, creating beautifully captured and technically perfect images of food whilst retaining that very real edge.

James is a calmly confident and lovely storyteller with a great cinematic eye, perfect for those pesky pouring shots and still engaging when getting a very human performance.
