James began working in feature documentaries, self-shooting on several high profile series before side-stepping into the world of short-form story telling. In 2017 James was shortlisted for a Shots Young-Director-Award in Cannes for his portrait film 'Why This Road?'
Alongside this carefully crafted documentary work, James has worked hard to develop a strong Table Top reel, built on his Dorset-born love of fresh food.
He has developed a two year collaboration with Mother on their Baileys account. These regular shoots have helped James to experiment with liquids, heat and cold, lighting surfaces, macro camera moves, and recipe visualisation.
James is a calm and lovely storyteller with a great cinematic eye, perfect for those pesky pouring shots and equally engaged when getting a very human performance to go with it.
